How To Make Your Own Scented Reed Diffusers
Mixing Usage:
- 20% - 25% Aroma Fragrance Oils
- 75% - 80% Glassware Imports Diffuser Base
Example based on 150ml end solution
- 150 x 25% = 37.5ml Fragrance Oil
- 150 x 75% = 112.5ml Diffuser Base
Testing – It’s important to test different ratios because of the wide range of fragrances in the market place. Too much scent may clog the reeds and prevent the migration of scent. This is also the case with very thick oils, so experimentation is the key. You can also add a tiny bit of our liquid candle colour to brighten up the diffuser and coordinate with your candles of the same scent. Please be mindful that this colour will also transfer to reeds or rice paper flowers.
Diffuser Base
With the assistance of the Diffuser Base carrier system, the reed diffuser fragrance oil travels up, through the reed sticks, and fills the room with a wonderful aroma. Be mindful that there are many didn’t types of Diffuser bases and some are better than others. More information about our Diffuser Base can be found in the (Blog TBA) or on the product page for Glassware Imports Diffuser Base.
Diffuser Reed Sticks:
For best results, Fibre/Material reeds are the best option as there is little to no need to flip them over. This saves a lot of time and cleaning. Dusty areas will sometimes prevent optimal scent throw so a good clean environment will also ensure many months of continuous use.
If using Bamboo Reeds, the reeds should be flipped every few days. This prevents dust particles from adhering to the surface, clogging the reeds and blocking the scent. It will also ensure months of continuous fragrance. When flipping reeds please be sure to wipe any drops or spills quickly because the solution will strip colour from surfaces. This is why we highly recommend the Fibre reeds.
Rice Paper Flowers and Hanging Diffusers: Are another great alternative to Bamboo reeds as they also require no maintenance. They will remain active for many months and can sit neatly on a small bench or window sill.

How to Use Aromatherapy Reed Diffusers
-
Fill the bottle approximately half full with diffuser mix.
2. Place the reeds into the bottle and allow them to soak in the oil for about one half hour.
3. Remove the reeds, flip them around and insert the other end of the reeds that aren't wet into the bottle. Be careful with dripping oil. It is best to keep your diffuser on a plate or coaster, since oil can leave marks on your furniture.
4. Every now and then, twist the reeds while in the bottle to help with diffusion.
5. In small spaces, use less sticks. Using all the sticks, in small areas, may be overwhelming. Use Larger Reeds for larger rooms.
6. Use reed diffusers to enhance the scent in a room without an open flame.
PLEASE NOTE: Diffuser fragrance oils are flammable so keep away from open flames or consistently high heat environments exceeding 35c
7. Diffuser fragrance oil should not be ingested, so keep away from children and pets.Visit Our Store: 2 Dairy Drive, Coburg North, VIC 3058
